DIY restore old rusty satellite speaker

Satellite Speaker Restoration - DIY from your home - Simple techniques:

Restoring an old rusty satellite speaker is not really necessary for us to do. But, if you can do it yourself from home with some simple and no cost techniques, then why don't you try once.

To restore these satellite speaker we used; Contact cleaner, NC Thinner, Diesel, super glue and some Coconut Oil.

Tools used are; Screw driver, Brush, A piece of cloth, Wire cutter, Soldering Iron and Lead..

What is a Satellite Speaker:

Satellite speakers are those which is used to handle high frequencies delivered by any home theater.

They can deliver more detailed audio combined with subwoofers within the system. While comparing it with bookshelf speakers, satellite speakers cannot handle that much of broader range of frequencies.

We got these speaker pairs from a garbage at our home town.

Restore the satellite speaker:

First remove all those screws carefully. In this case we found a 3 inches speaker inside both of this.

After disconnecting the wires to the speaker, start cleaning those rust using a sand paper.

To clean the speaker terminal we used Contact cleaner spraying and brushing there nicely.

To remove the dust and dirt from the speaker paper and connecting wires we used NC Thinner with a cloth and rubbed to clean the paper and wires.

The satellite speakers normally comes with a thin cone paper so, be careful while cleaning the paper.

To clean the case use any brush and water. If needed you can use any detergent or soap.

Get the real color:

To restore the real color and texture you can use any type of cleaning agent. Here we used a mixture of Diesel and Coconut Oil.

Use this mixture with a cloth and rub nicely all around the case, wire, speakers and the cone paper also.

Fixing the broken parts:

Use any fixture like fevi-quick, glue or super glue. We used super glue to fix the broken parts. Luckily we don't have so-much parts broken.

Final step for our restored satellite speaker:

Solder the speaker wires that we disconnected for cleaning. Make sure that speaker wires are connected in the right polarity.

Before screwing the case, make sure that the wires are knotted or use any stopper. If not, in any case if you pull the wires outside accidentally, you will get your speaker terminals destroyed.

Now you have a pair of 3 inches satellite speaker ready to use.
