Best way to do desoldering or unsoldering components in a perfect way

A simple way is to desolder using a normal desoldering pump. To desolder any close legged chip or transistors, use a desoldering wick / braid.


How to use a desoldering pump

To desolder using a pump, first melt the lead on that soldered point using a soldering iron. Then hold the tip of the pump close to that point. Suck the molten lead by pressing the releasing button.

But you must act fast to do this. Holding the pump tip to the molten lead should be done as faster just after removing the soldering iron from that point.


Using a desolder wick / braid

Using a desoldering wick is one of the best neat way to desolder any component from a pcb.

Hold the wick on the lead which you want to remove. Now apply the soldering iron above the wick until the lead under the wick melts and get sucked by the wick.

You can use a pump to desolder any large leaded area like an EHT pins or power smps capacitor etc.

But you may not be able to use a pump on any leads that are very close like an IC chip. 

At that case a desolder wick will be the best option. Another benefit of using a desolder wick is that you will get a clean and neat desoldered surface than by using a pump.

A drawback on using a pump or wick is that you cannot desolder any surface mount (SMD) components. For this you have to use any type of desoldering station or hot air gun.

To desolder a resistor or capacitor there is no need to use any pump or wick. For that you just need to pull it back using an aluminium squeezer.
